"The
Business Case for Quality in Health Care"
Summary:
Employers
demand information on how enhanced quality of care for chronic disease
adds value by reducing current medical care costs, improving
productivity or reducing absenteeism, and reducing future disease
complications and cost. Employers and other panelists in this session
will 1) summarize recent developments in health care quality and value
measurement, 2) report on how improvements in quality reduce both direct
medical costs and indirect costs such as absenteeism, and 3) provide an
update on the payer-driven Bridges to Excellence pay-for-performance
program that provides financial rewards to providers of high quality
health care.
