Brown, PhD, a senior advisor to The HSM Group and one of its co-founders, is the recipient of the American Marketing Association (AMA) Career Contributions to the Services Discipline Award. The Award is given annually by the AMA Services Interest Group to the individual whose teaching, research and service have had the greatest long-term impact on the development of the field.In a letter to the College of Business faculty and staff at Arizona State University where Steve is Professor of Marketing and Director of the Center for Services Marketing & Management, Dean Larry E. Penley wrote:
"This Award recognizes that Steve has been a pioneer in the services field, having contributed enormously to its scholarship and its teaching. Steve's leadership in services can be seen in many ways, both through personal accomplishments in teaching and research and through the Center for Services Marketing & Management — its published books, research sponsored by the Center, its executive education, etc."
